Lebron, Jordan, Tiger… and Johnny FPV. While the star freestyle pilot might not yet be on Wheaties boxes, in another jump forward for the sport in popular awareness Johnny Schaer stars in a holiday-season national U.S. toy commercial for Air Hogs drones.
The advertising campaign is part of a partnership announced today between Spin Master Corp, owner of the Air Hogs brand of toy RC aerial vehicles, and DR1 Racing. Brandishing the new slogan “Race Like a Pro.” — and how many of its customers knew there were pros? — Air Hogs will appear in all three of the upcoming DR1 Racing series in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, including the 2017 debut of the DR1 Micro Drone Racing Series.
Company representative say this is the first US. national television advertising campaign featuring professional drone racing.

The first new consumer drone to go under Christmas trees is the Air Hogs Helix Race Drone, retailing for $59.99 at outlets including Walmart, Toys R Us and Target. The durable drone includes “beginner” and “advanced” modes — no word yet on which setting Johnny FPV prefers.
