Robot Wars is back!
After the success of ‘BattleBots’ on ABC in the United States (4.6 million viewers of the Season 1 finale), the British have decided to reboot their own dormant robot combat show. BBC Two is set to produce six new episodes of ‘Robot Wars’. The show has been off the air for over a decade, but still has a massive following around the world.
Amateur roboteers will battle it out in a new purpose-built fighting arena in Glasgow, UK. Confirmation of a 6-inch steel floor and bullet-proof walls gives an idea about the intensity of fighting we expect to see. Filming will take place in early March. Air dates are TBD.
Alan Tyler, BBC Acting Controller of Entertainment Commissioning, says:
“The redeveloped Robot Wars proved compelling, offering a mix of real people, real passion and raw power… We are excited to bring this clever new incarnation not only to an audience who loved the original but also to those who may be discovering it for the first time.”
